Help Elect More Progressive Leaders!

Tags:

There is a stark lack of diversity in Congress and AOF was created to provide progressive candidates, campaigns, and operatives the resources and support they need to be successful. Since our inception, AOF has hosted candidate and campaign operative trainings across the country, given direct contributions to endorsed candidates, placed fellows into key races, and purchased targeted ads in media markets to boost support for endorsed candidates.

Our goals have always been to

  1. support progressive candidates for federal and state-wide office who are in pivotal races and who are supportive of the needs and issues of communities of color;
  2. increase voter turnout among communities of color for candidates endorsed by AOF;
  3. identify and promote emerging leaders within communities of color as potential candidates and campaign operatives for statewide and federal elected offices.

If the October government shutdown at the hands of the GOP have shown us anything, it’s that we need to support and elect leaders who will actually govern and not just play games with our country’s economy and workforce.

When President Obama was elected in 2008, with the support of a Democratic Congress, he passed numerous pieces of crucial legislation including the Affordable Care Act, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the Recovery Act, and dozens of others.

Then the 2010 mid-term elections rolled around and we lost House races all across the country. Since then, the House has been focused on repealing the Affordable Care Act instead of passing bills. Three years of an obstructionist Congress is enough.

With another mid-term election coming up in 2014, America’s Opportunity Fund needs your support!

 Here’s what we’ve planned for 2014:

  • Raise at least $100,000 to support and elect progressive candidates who represent communities of color. We will do this as we’ve always done with direct contributions to candidates during primary and general election campaigns.
  • Train the next class of expert campaign operatives to make an impact in races across the country. We will host at least two trainings on the West and East coasts featuring our seasoned political professionals and time-tested curriculum.
  • Place enthusiastic, trained fellows into key races to help with mobilization efforts.
  • Purchase targeted ads in key media markets to boost the efforts of our supported candidates.
How can you support our work?

    I hope I can count on your donation today.
