America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

Washington, DC - Today America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) announced its endorsement of Hillary Clinton for President, citing her consistent support of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community as a key factor in this decision.

“Hillary Clinton is a smart, conscientious, and an inspiring leader,” said former Ambassador Gary Locke and AOF Honorary Co-Chair. “She values diversity and has always been supportive of and sensitive to the needs of the AAPI community. She is everything we want in a President and she is the leader we need in these complex and troubling times.”

“In 2015, 56 percent of US-born Asian American registered voters are young adults between the ages of 18 and 34, while 29 percent are middle-aged (34-54) and 16 percent are 55 and older. By 2040, the young adults will only comprise 43 percent while the middle-aged segment will rise by 9 percent and the 55+ segment by 3 percent.” (“The Future of Asian America in 2040” Asian Journal) With the AAPI community growing and evolving, it’s important to have a President who understands the diverse needs of a wide-ranging constituency.

Hillary Clinton has a proven track record of supporting the AAPI community through her years as an elected official. During her years as a US Senator from the state of New York, she introduced the Count Every Vote Act, which legislated that every citizen has equal access to vote, regardless of language barriers. She has voted in support of comprehensive immigration reform with an emphasis on the reunification of families separated by the backlog of family visas by authoring legislation.

When Hillary is elected President, she will continue the fight for comprehensive immigration reform, promote naturalization, and address the family visa backlog. Her commitment to AAPI youth is to make college more affordable and make schools a safer place by combating bullying and discrimination. She is committed to AAPI women by closing the gender pay gap and correcting the 62 cents for every dollar earned by a white man.

Hillary’s leadership makes it clear that she is the best candidate to lead this country and America's Opportunity Fund (AOF) is proud to support her in her campaign to be the 45th President of the United States.
