Tammy Duckworth is the embodiment of an American hero. A Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard, she was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Tammy’s leadership and advocacy for her fellow soldiers led to service as Director of Illinois’ Department of Veteran’s Affairs and later as Assistant Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs. Tammy’s perseverance, incredible strength of character and dedication to service make her a strong candidate to represent Illinois in Congress.
